Craig Bonthrone.

​Craig is a qualified Strength and Conditioning coach offering individual programmes designed to maximised performance.

 

Craig has extensive experience in the realms of sports and exercise science.  He has studied FDSc in Sports Coaching followed by BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning, MSc Coaching Science and NSCA (Strength and Conditioning).  He was involved in assisting in strength and conditioning training of modern pentathletes at Hartpury in 2013 and 2014. He was also the assistant in the Human Performance Lab at Hartpury which involved performance testing of athletes and supervision of exercise testing for undergraduate dissertations.  
 
Craig's undergraduate dissertation sought to determine the effects of Creatine and Caffeine supplementation during Wingate test on Cycle ergometer and as such nutrition and supplementation are of huge interest to Craig. He has conducted S and C for a number of elite athletes including Zimbabwe waterpolo players for the South Africa Championships and the Zimbabwe Women's Indoor Hockey Team to the World Cup Qualifiers in Namibia in 2017.  He also trained a Clay Pigeon Shooting Athlete to the Junior World Championships in Lonato, Italy as well as Africa Games in Cairo, Egypt in 2015.
 
Craig is further certified in Kinesiology taping, Nutrition for Athletes, Kettlebell and Suspension training and has undergone training in Dartfish video analysis.  He has a complex understanding of the biomechanical and physiological demands of exercise and is able to apply his knowledge to various sports through understanding biomechanical effects on muscles and studying scientific evidence around the sport itself.
Craig has trained a wide variety of Elite Equestrian athletes while working with Equestrian Performance to include Grand Prix Showjumpers, Paradressage riders, Apprentice Jockeys and National CIC* Event Riders. 
 
He has also provided onsite support for leading female polo player Hazel Jackson and her teams at polo tournaments in the UK to include Coombe Place and Team UAE.
